I know I am a bit slow but I think I just came to realize there is no 2017 America or Speedmaster.
Are they discontinued? :surprise:

I am in shock at the moment, and as I started looking at Triumphs I think maybe there is no replacement being contemplated either. At least not in the 900 range, and for certain Triumph is not doing the 865 anymore.

I am sad. :frown2:

I LOVE my 865. I guess I will cherish all the more now that I think there will be no more.

Done, 1200 Bobber is the Speed master replacement. Two seat version spy photos release some time back. Probably be in late 17 as a 2018

Dealer told me the cruiser market was down and Triumph was dropping cruisers and focusing on sport bikes. Rats, I found this out a week after buying my America. I love the 865. its the perfect weight and style for older riders like me.

Interesting. A couple of dealers I know say sportbike sales are down (Big Four). Seems like nakeds and adventure bikes are popular now, and for at least Triumph, retros are still selling. I do believe Triumph will introduce at least one cruiser based on the Bobber.

My 07 has a home for life.I love the looks and overall "feel" of my bike. It's me to a T and what I'd waited for years for Triumph to produce.I am interested in the 1200 cruiser though as everyone around here knows.

I agree the bike in its current iteration is a darn good bike. However that 1200 seems to be a good motor. Originally I was holding out to see what they were going to do along those lines as I have wanted a Speedmaster since I first sat on one five years ago. When I didn't see anything coming and a total of my last bike I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a great deal on a 2015 with 127 miles. I don't regret it, it has plenty of pep. But man the exhausts on the 1200 bobber sound and look so darn nice.

So my local (350 miles away) dealer has 1 speedy and 2 Americas. 2016s. I am seriously thinking of trading in the 2012.
Anybody got good reasons not to??
I have 20,000 + on mine, no reason I would trade it other than the thought that I will not be able to in the future for a brand new one.
I mean seriously, I love the 865 motor. Weight, MPG, power to weight ratio. I just don't think a bigger bike is the replacement for my America down the line and so maybe I need to trade in now even though I am not ready to????? Afterall I just got the 2012 (Which I bought in 2013) paid for. It took me years to find my perfect bike and I no more than get it than they quit making it. Go figure.

While I'm sure there are some really good deals on the last of the air cooled 865cc twins, the trade value of your current ride will likely be on the low side. Do the math and see if it works out for you.

your statement is exactly why I bought the America. I tried very hard to like the Harley's, since they are the dealer in town. but it was so heavy, I was afraid if it got laid over I couldn't pick it up. well 10 days after having my America I was making a right then a quick left when a car came to the stop sign quickly and on the yellow Line, no problem I made the right, tightly, but made it fine,. then while going for the quick left a small bus came quickly up and I had to stop mid turn, still ok, I got stopped fine, then. they acted like they wanted me to go so I started, and they jerked forward a bit and stopped again , I stopped and started again, but now the RPMs were too low and it stalled, and here it came...the dreaded slow motion lay down. there it was on the ground. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to pick up 595 pounds of dead weight, but I did. that wouldn't have happened with the Harley I was looking at, id never have been able to pick it up. Just reinforced my decision. by the way no damage to the bike.

Only thing better than an 865 cruiser is two 865 cruisers!

When I reluctantly sold my '04 with its 790 engine, one of the reasons (a big one) was that the engine lacked the performance I was looking for - long, steep hills in a good headwind would make it impossible for me to gain speed (passing) in 5th gear. I knew how to downshift, but... The gas mileage was disappointing as well (I usually got mileage in the high 30's). So I sold it and launched my way through several bikes looking for happy.

Last one was a lovely Superglide that turned out to be too heavy for me in my age-impaired state (read, geezer). Sold it, got my new-to-me 2010 America late last summer. Like it! Really really like the 865's go power too - I'm getting up the long hills in North Idaho in 5th gear with ease, getting great (for me) gas mileage (low 40's - I know it can do better, but, um, I ride too fast). Handles great (big fun in the mountains) and isn't too much to horse around in parking lots, gravel driveways (like mine) and it's decently comfy too.

So Triumph's discontinuing the cruisers... But, then, their business is driven by sales. I get that. Sad to see, though. Whether they come out with a 1200 America / Speedy or drop the line, like others have said, I've got no plans to sell mine.

The thing that concerns me is will parts be hard to come by. We already can't get a tachometer, a basic instrument.

True about the tach, but that was not original equipment on the America or speedy. I am hoping there are enough of these engines out there( I mean look at all the Bonnies that had it) to be parts for a little while at least. And I am old enough that it doesn't need to be too long a while. I looked hard at the 2016s (at the price it was hard not too) but decided to keep my 2012. After all it is just getting broken in.:ride All the little minor blemishes are a story that I like to remember.:Naughty

FOR ME this is the best cruiser ever made and I will see just how many miles I can put on it.:bow

Triumph, this is a mistake. :SadSigh

I can still get parts for my '95 T-3 Sprint. I don't see why parts will be an issue for a long time. I have a '02 America. She has 28k miles on it. It starts from cold in about 3 revolutions with the choke and will run all day with out a whimper. Yes it will get little hot on a really hot day (it was 106°f here yesterday). Then I just ride one of my water cooled bikes until the weather cools down. Why buy a new one ? Love my old 790 ! ...J.D.

IF the worst came to the worst. There's still aftermarket parts such as big bore kits etc. but I think there'll be OEM parts for 865 twins around a LONG time yet.

This make me sad. I'm not a fan of the big cruisers from Harley or Triumph, just too heavy and cumbersome, especially the big Harleys.

Do look at other posts and scrounge the web for a bobber suspended new America....what it will ultimately look like can only be guessed though. And whether it might come in an LT version I dunno....but one hopes.

I went online yesterday, to all the manufacturers sites I could think of; Triumph, Harley, Indian, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati, BMW, I know there are more I just ran out of brain cells. No one had anything to offer that could conceivably be a replacement for the America in its current form. I am talking about type (cruiser) price and size.
There were machines that could fill 2 of 3 but nothing that could fill the void that the departing America and Speedmaster will leave.
As Curley Bill said "I am feeling capital"............ that I bought mine when I did.

Nothing around to replace the Rocket III touring either, and I fear a new Rocket is not going to be in the cruiser/tourer category, but more sporting....eeeeewwwwwwe.
